Axel Schmitt was born in Germany where he received his first piano lessons at age eleven. In 1991, he won the national German piano-competition "Jugend musiziert" with the highest possible score and has since then performed solo and chamber-music recitals in Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Russia, and the United States. He has played as a soloist with orchestras in Germany, Austria, and the United States, and he is the prize-winner of numerous other piano competitions including first prize at the Los Angeles Liszt Competition (1996 and 1998), third prize at the Ragusa Competition on Sicily, finalist at the Senigallia Competition for young pianists, as well as many academic scholarships at UCLA such as the prestigious UC Regents Scholarship, the Dissertation Year Award, the Graduate Recognition Award, and many more. Highlights of Axel Schmitt's performances include his concerts at the Liszt Museum in Budapest, Hungary in 1999, at the World Piano Pedagogy Conference in Las Vegas 2002, his performance of Rachmaninoff's second Piano Concerto with the UCLA Philharmonia Orchestra in the same year, and the concert at the International Conservatory Week in St. Petersburg in Russia in 2003. Most recently, he performed Beethoven's Emperor Concerto for a sold-out audience in Germany and received rave-reviews from the press. Axel Schmitt came to Los Angeles in 1995 and completed his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in 2004 as a student of Prof. Vitaly Margulis at UCLA where he was Teaching Assistant for piano studies. Dr. Schmitt has many years of teaching experience with all ages and levels.

Michele Nardone began formal training as a vioilnist at an early age. Her professional studies also included the viola, piano and conducting at The University of Southern California where she received her Bachelor of Music degree, graduating from the Dean's List with numerous scholarship awards in Performance with emphasis in Pedagogy. She also toured with the Teatro Dell'Opera di Roma (The Rome Opera) and The Spoleto Music Festival in Italy. Michele also conducts group string classes at Hesse Park in Palos Verdes for both adullts and children. In Spring of 2006 several of her students were invited to perform chamber music and orchestra concerts at Carnegie Hall.
